In Teen-aged girls, age 9 – 18: If magnesium supplements are the best way to insure your healthy intake, be sure you intelligently balance with other nutrients. This list is compiled to help select a supplement plan for teen girls that will provide the nutrients they are not adequately getting from their food. Almost half, 44%, of Girls aged 9 - 13 yrs do not get their daily requirement of magnesium in their diets. Almost all, 91%, of girls aged 14 - 18 years do not get enough magnesium from their foods. Over 97% probably get too much sodium and not enough potassium - an unhealthy combination. 95 – 97% don’t get enough Vitamin E 42 – 49% don’t get enough Phosphorus 34 – 54% don’t get enough Vitamin A 9 - 42% don't get adequate vitamin C from their foods most girls aged 9 - 13 yrs get adequate copper & iron from their foods, but 16% of girls 14 - 18 yrs don’t get enough Iron or Copper 16% of girls aged 14 - 18 don’t get enough vitamin B6 (important in magnesium utilisation). 14% don’t get enough Protein 10 - 26% don’t get enough Zinc Most May not get enough Calcium [See footnote (2), previous page] B-vitamins: girls 14 - 18, 12% dont' get enough thiamin, 6% not enough riboflavin, 6% not enough niacin, 19% not enough folate. A good product for teen aged girls would be Diet Coke Plus, which has vitamins B6 and B12, Zinc, Magnesium, and Phosphorus. It used to be available in some locations. Is it available near you?
